Exploring Nusa Penida

Bali is the perfect place when you want to go on a holiday with your family or friends. Bali has so much to offer, from quieter areas to vibrant cities and beautiful islands around Bali. You can make an itinerary with various places or just one or two. The options are endless with Bali. When visiting Bali, Nusa Penida is something that you need to see. It is a beautiful island with stunning beaches and nature.

Nusa Penida is only 35 minutes a fast boat away from Bali, but you will end up in an entirely different world. The island feels adventurous, and the contrast with Bali is enormous. Nusa Penida is much less established for tourism, and you can view the Indonesian lifestyle. The hotspots of Nusa Penida are stunning, and Nusa Penida only got famous a few years ago, which is a wonder because the island is gorgeous. Typical for Nusa Penida is the beautiful cliffs and breathtaking viewpoints. Sometimes you have to climb for these spots, but you will end up in a magical place. The neighbouring island Nusa Lembongan is perfect when you want to relax for a day.

The mode of transport to Nusa Penida is by boat. You can arrange this beforehand or at the harbour of Sanur. The fast boat is high-speed and will take approximately 35 minutes to the harbour of Nusa Penida. When arriving, renting a scooter is the best way to explore the island. The roads are pretty adventurous, so if you aren't comfortable driving, I recommend hiring a private driver to drive you around the island and see all the hotspots.

You can find multiple hostels, hotels, villas, and resorts at Nusa Penida.

Nusa Penida is famous for its beautiful viewpoints. These viewpoints are something that you must notice when visiting Bali. When you look up Nusa Penida on the internet, you will probably find the famous picture from Kelingking's viewpoint. It is also known as the T-rex. The name is given because the cliffs have the shape of a gigantic dino. I recommend that you arrive early in the morning to avoid big crowds and can enjoy the view. The beach downstairs is also fantastic but hard to enter.

At most viewpoints, you have a beach below. These beaches are mainly hard to reach but worth the climb. Most beaches are tranquil, and the waters are a rough and beautiful blue. At most beaches, you can buy something to drink and enjoy nature. For example, broken beach and crystal bay are two beaches that you need to visit.

Another beautiful place is Angel's Billabong, where a natural pool has been created. Between the Cliffs and rocks, sometimes it is suddenly super calm swimming water, and you can float in a blue ocean. Super beautiful to see but also a very chill place to cool off at the right time of the day. Depending on the tides, you can enter the water.

Nusa Penida is also famous for its beautiful waters and underwater world. If you love diving, you need to dive at Nusa Penida. There are loads of diving resorts and schools where they arrange different trips and even the possibility of getting your diving license. When diving is something that is not for you, snorkelling is the best alternative. You can still watch the beautiful underwater world and should visit manta point. This is a bizarre and unreal experience where you can go snorkelling with mantas. These are enormous rays.

When you want to go snorkelling, your hotel will mostly arrange tours, or you can go to the beach and arrange a tour on the spot. For diving, this is also possible, but if you want to do a diving course, it is best to arrange it beforehand so that you will be satisfied that there is availability.

To conclude, Nusa Penida is a beautiful island to visit. Also, the location is near the mainland of Bali, so it is only a 40-minute boat ride with a fast boat, and you end up with a whole other scenery. I recommend three or four days, so you have plenty of time to see everything.
